Steve Ashe led the lesson from the book Finding Rest When the Work is Never Done by Patrick Klingaman. I think it was rather fitting that we discussed finding peace today. So many of us are struggling with this issue during the recent loss of our dear friend Lore. The author reminds us that true peace resides in God. He alone is at the center of our ability to seek rest and calmness. Frequently we tend to internalize our feelings because of pride and pretense. This only causes turmoil in our lives and relationships. Steve relayed ten benefits of finding serenity and rest. They are:
Absence of conflict
Contentment
Quiet
Light burdens
Hope
Endurance
A clean conscious (freedom from guilt)
Power of the Holy Spirit
Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-24)

I hope we can let go of our weariness and dwell with our Lord and Savior. He is our Prince of Peace! Let us all continue to trust, obey, and serve the Lord.

I was caught red-handed this morning not paying full attention and thumbing through my Bible furiously! Fortunately, I found the verse for which I was frantically searching. It was a favorite of Lore’s. Long ago I highlighted it and wrote her name beside it. It is Isaiah 40:31, “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

It is with tremendous comfort that I know that Lore has her wings--fly on sister friend!

Love~
