Lesson
3/16/08
The lesson Sunday was “Reaching for God’s Ear”.
Where do staying power and endurance come from especially in the spiritual realm which calls for a special kind of toughness?
Jesus directs us to the perseverance that is produced by persistence in prayer.
Luke 18:1-8 (beginning in 17:20)
What is giving up motivated by?
Being worn out by injustice, mistreatment, misunderstanding, despair and personal failure in our day to day life….
Jesus says” we must always pray and not give up.”
The only basis of perseverance because it is the means God uses to accomplish His will in our lives.
To stop praying is to grow weary.
Why the delay in answering prayers?
-timing
-capacity to handle the response
-God’s will may not automatically happen
-delay not a form of denial but preparation
-living in a world where good doesn’t necessarily win today, but where it will in the long run
“Prayer is a life passionately wanting, wishing, desiring God’s triumph”
Listen to Jesus: If heaven seems silent, just keep knocking and smile while you do so. God and the universe are on your side.
Have a great week!
With Love,
Michael
