Lesson
This week was the final "Judgment Call" lesson.
We recapped the last few weeks:
1. Remove the speck in your eye before confronting your friend about the plank in his/her eye.
2. Self examination/understanding & mercy for others. Once you've removed your speck, you might be able to empathize with the person.
3. Paul says to judge those within the church - not outside the church. We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard and not condone sinning behavior or others will view us as hypocrites when we want them to follow Christ.
4. When are we judged? What would Jesus do?
Today we talked about Forgiveness.
Luke 23:35-39
Our only chance for victory in Jesus is through Forgiveness. We must be humble and obedient as Jesus was.Human nature causes us to be more emotional & angry when judging others. We want to justify ourselves. Do we rejoice in others' pain sometimes?
Matthew 5:43 "Be Perfect" as God would have you to be. We should be more like children. Unlike children, we have a hard time loving everyone. Love asks Nothing.
Following Jesus has a cost - but you receive gifts of peace and joy.
Forgiveness restores relationships.
We can overcome obstacles that would have kept us from those relationships.
Have a great week!
