Lesson

8/3/08
Humility:Bowing Low
1Timothy 4:7Discipline yourself for the purpose of Godliness.Athletes, musicians, successful people are disciplined, driven, practice/train a lot, focused.

Philippians 3:10Humility not only as a virtue but a discipline.Humility is seen as a weakness to some people. However, it is a quietness, lack of self-centeredness, recognition/credit not sought. Jesus was very humble; however, He was not weak. He did not suffer low self-esteem or have insecurities. He knew exactly what his end result would be and understood the gifts that he received from God.

Genuinely Humble people have a natural inattention concerning their humility. They don't thnk of themselves as humble. As a matter of fact, they rarely think of themselves at all. They are not self-centered. They are "other-centered".

Three Lessons of Humility:
1. Mark 10:35-45 Jesus says "You don't understand what you are asking." Mark 8:34 Pick up your cross & follow Jesus.
2. Philippians 2:3-11 Humility grows out of gratitude.
3. 1Peter 5:5-7 Humility as an act of faith.

Sit, Stand, Bow
Sit on promoting ourselves
Stand up for others
Bow low before God

Have a great week and be "other-centered".
